Rainbow® Sandals Foundation is proud to partner and support Las Floristas, that is dedicated to children’s welfare.
Las Floristas, originally founded as the Junior Flower Guild in 1938, has a rich history of dedication to children’s welfare and community beautification to reach their full potential. Initially focused on community beautification, the group became an independent entity in 1939, adopting the name “Las Floristas” and redirecting their efforts towards children's welfare. Over the years, they have funded numerous programs, including the Wheelchair Sports Program, which fosters physical fitness and teamwork through various sports; the Las Floristas Recreational Therapy program, which aids children's assimilation back into the public through fun excursions; and the Adolescent Support Group, which helps adolescents transition from inpatient to outpatient care.
Additionally, the Therapeutic Art Programs provide an emotional outlet and develop fine motor skills through tailored art classes, while the Adaptive Driving program offers driving lessons to enhance independence. Las Floristas also supports education through scholarships and grants, and promotes physical activity at the Don Knabe Wellness Center. Previously, they funded initiatives such as the Center for Applied Rehabilitation Technology and the Marilyn Hilton Resource Center, which are now self-sustaining. The organization’s history of hands-on involvement and comprehensive support has continually empowered children to become independent, proud, and productive citizens. One hundred percent of donations go directly to pediatric program support at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center.
