Pacific Marine Mammal Center
In November, Rainbow Sandals Foundation donated to the Pacific Marine Mammal Center (PMMC), facilitating the acquisition of new essential rescue vehicles. Prompted by a concerning encounter with a sick pregnant sea lion near his residence back in June, Rainbow Sandals Foundation's President, Jay "Sparky" Longley, acted swiftly, reaching out to PMMC for assistance.
Upon learning of PMMC's need for updated vehicles, Sparky made a monetary donated to help a PMMC purchase a new 2024 F150 truck equipped with state-of-the-art technology. This contribution enhances PMMC's capacity to transport, care for, and rehabilitate injured seals and sea lions along the Southern California Coast.
The newly acquired trucks, featuring distinctive wraps displaying logos, are equipped with lift gates and extra lights for nighttime rescues. These assets ensure PMMC's rapid response teams can efficiently reach distressed animals from Seal Beach to San Onofre, playing a crucial role in maintaining public safety.
The support extended through their SPLASH fundraiser significantly impacts PMMC's operations. It facilitates the training of future ocean conservationists, acquisition of vital hospital equipment, enhancement of education centers, advancement in medical research, and a steadfast commitment to ocean stewardship, exemplified by the installation of a state-of-the-art water reclamation facility.
