Familia Nights
Rainbow® Sandals Foundation has made a generous donation to both the Flourish Foundation and Idaho Base Camp (IBC) to start Familia Nights in the Wood River Valley of Idaho.
The idea for the walks came partly from Zeva Longley Family walks in Marin County hosted by WildCare, and locally from Daniela Anguita of the Flourish Foundation, and Herbert Romeo of Idaho Base Camp.
The vision for the program in the Wood River Valley was to offer trips to those that are underrepresented in the outdoors, specifically for the Hispanic Community, so that they may enjoy the healing effects of nature.
Rainbow® Sandals Foundation has supported the WildCare trips in California for several years. Herbert Romero is a well-known organizer and grant writer in the Valley. He’s gathered participants from IBC’s Outdoor Hispanic Leaders, from Dream Team programs, and also from the Advocates.
The walks are led by Daniela using the Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Experience model. The mindfulness curriculum for the walks are tailored to each unique area and offered fully in Spanish. The possibility of offering them in English is also being explored.
The program is hosted by the Flourish Foundation, who worked directly with IBC’s existing programs.
