The Hunger Coalition
The Hunger Coalition builds a healthy community through access to good food. It addresses the root causes of food insecurity in collaboration with key partners. One of the key programs the Hunger Coalition provides is the Healthy Food Pantry, where community members in need can pick up free healthy groceries for their families. Several Children’s Food Programs are offered, including Snack Packs and Healthy Bites, which provide healthy snacks in schools and after-school programs throughout the valley. The Summer Food Program provides healthy sack lunches, enrichment programs, and a bookmobile in partnership with the Community Library using our Bloom truck throughout the summer at 5 locations in the community. The Hunger Coalition also has a farm, a garden, and greenhouses, where community members can “Volunteer for Veggies” and produce, which is raised for our Healthy Food Pantry. The Bloom Community Center, which houses the programs, offers cooking and nutrition classes. And opportunities for participants to meet with community partners addressing areas such as healthcare, financial literacy, and crisis support.
